My Background
Leadership, Research, &
Professional Development
Throughout my time at Ohio University, I actively sought opportunities that would allow me to develop skills beyond the classroom while strengthening my confidence in professional environments. These experiences played an important role in shaping my overall soft skills, such as communication, professionalism, leadership, and overall understanding of professional dynamics.
Board Member
One of the earliest opportunities that contributed to my professional development was my involvement with the University Hearing Board. during my Sophomore and Junior year. Serving in this role allowed me to observe and participate in situations that required professionalism, ethical decision-making, active listening, and effective communication. Through these experiences, I learned the importance of approaching situations objectively while maintaining empathy and respect for others. The position also strengthened my confidence speaking within structured environments and handling sensitive situations responsibly.
Research Assistant
In addition to leadership involvement, I also gained research experience as a Research Assistant for a graduate student study focused on stress at Ohio University during my Junior year. This experience introduced me to research procedures, confidentiality expectations, data collection consistency, and the importance of maintaining accuracy when working with sensitive information. Working within a structured research environment strengthened my attention to detail and reinforced the importance of organization, professionalism, and accountability, especially in highly structured environments.
1:1 Career Coaching
Beyond individual experiences, I also invested significant time into developing my professional communication and career readiness skills. Working with a Career Coach helped me refine my résumé, LinkedIn profile, interview preparation, and professional goals while encouraging me to explore opportunities that aligned with both my strengths and interests. Through this process, I became more intentional about pursuing experiences that combined psychology, business, communication, and organizational operations.
These leadership, research, and professional development opportunities ultimately helped me grow far beyond academics alone. They strengthened my confidence, professionalism, adaptability, and communication skills while helping me better understand how collaboration, organization, and interpersonal relationships contribute to successful workplace environments.
