My Background

Year 3 & 4 at Ohio University

During the summer before my third year, I volunteered as a Research Assistant for a graduate student’s study on stress at Ohio University. This experience gave me valuable insight into how research is used to analyze and predict patterns in human behavior. Over the course of the year, I learned the importance of maintaining confidentiality, adhering to research protocols, and ensuring consistency in data collection. This role strengthened my attention to detail and ability to work independently within a structured environment.

Recognizing that I wanted to further connect my psychology background to the business world, I began working with a Career Coach at Ohio University to refine my professional materials and explore career paths. With this guidance—and a growing sense of direction—I secured a Human Resources Internship with Hobart Filler Metals, where I gained hands-on experience in HR operations. I assisted with employee onboarding, file management, and HR communication projects while also helping evaluate digital record systems. This internship was a major step in aligning my academic interests with practical HR experience.

Currently, in my fourth year, I am completing a Human Resources Internship with the City of Athens, which has allowed me to expand my skills in public-sector HR. I have digitalized and standardized employee records, created organizational identification cards, and developed onboarding materials through the BambooHR system. I also communicate training reminders, assist with research projects, and contribute to employee appreciation initiatives. These responsibilities have given me a stronger understanding of organizational efficiency, employee engagement, and the importance of clear communication within an HR department.

Alongside my internship, I am completing my final year, in which I am enrolled in a employment law course, providing me with essential knowledge of workplace regulations, employee rights, and organizational compliance.  As I approach graduation, I feel confident in my academic and professional foundation—a blend of psychology, business, and human resources that has shaped both my goals and my identity as a future HR professional.
